Oman's Music Industry

I've been play Guitar since I was 12 and now i'm 21, so do the maths, along the way I learned my own playing style too and I hardly learned songs. During the course of this I started playing other instruments on the side, I had the ability to work my way around them quite well and I managed to play a few basic things on them. I was in UK when I started and nearly all my friends played an instrument... So sometimes we got together and jammed it was fun.

In Oman by some lucky chance this dude(a close friend of mine) was looking for a guitarist, so he asked this person I knew in school  named Hamed to join him(because he played guitar too) but Hamed recommended me instead. So the next day I went and met up with this dude called "Ray" we started chatting,  he told he wanted to make a band and all so I stuck around. We got a few members, but due to the lack of musicians and the concept of music in Oman, we didn't have a bassist, we came across quite a few they were either small time or lost interest fast. So since day one me and Ray stuck together looking to form a band, we went through around atleast 10 people before we actually played our first concert in PDO and even then our vocalist was a 1990 voice recorder being played in the 2000's(he was a person, that was a reference to how bad his voice is)... Anyway people enjoyed our Music choice regardless of our singer being crappy. Soon after the vocalist started some rumors on Facebook, we had a talk, fought and kicked him. He took our band practice location with him as it was his originally. As the years went we looked for other bands members, found some, played with them and then it faded away. They were all silly issues, like someone not having a car, not coming on time and other rubbish.

So till this I hope to find, some members and we can kick start a band with proper practice and stuff... But the awareness is very small in Oman... I have met lots of bands in oman, not lots, but a few they're doing quite well for themselves but no one is willing to try hard enough so I wish that one day I can do something here... Until that day I'll keep an eye out...

Lemmy: 'Hip Hop Is Not Music'

Never one to mince his words, Motörhead front man Lemmy Kilmister recently shared his views on the state of modern music with Atlantic City Weekly. When asked to express his thoughts on hip hop, the metal legend had the following to say:
"Why should I do that when it’s not music... There’s nothing creative about doing that [rapping] over music someone else created. They go out and take John Bonham’s drumming. I don’t call that music. You think they [rappers] could come up with sounds of their own, even some basic sounds and they can’t do it. Sad."

In the interview, Lemmy also expresses his grievance with the boring, clean living attitude of some of today’s pop stalwarts:
"It kills me how bland this period is... You go backstage these days and you see 20 bottles of Perrier and a bag of nuts. What’s wrong with this fucking picture? Everything is so healthy today and it’s terrible. I don’t get it... What the fuck is it about John Mayer?... Someone should explain him to me. And the same goes for Justin Bieber. They’re all such boring people. They’re so fucking serious. I’m not interested in people as boring as that. It’s a shame these people are popular entertainers."

The god has spoken! :D I couldn't agree with him more!

Nothing Special

Just felt like sharing a song ^^

The horizon has been defeated
by the pirates of the new age
alien casinos
The horizon has been defeated
by the pirates of the new age
alien casinos
well maybe it's just time to say
things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the troubles just seems to stay

future complications
in the strings between the cans
but no prints can come from fingers
if machines become our hands
and then our feet become the wheels
and then the wheels become the cars
and then the rigs begin to drill
until the drilling goes too far

things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the horizon begins to fade away

thingamajigsaw puzzled
anger don't you step too close
because people are lonely and only
animals with fancy shoes
hallelujah zig zag nothing
misery it's on the loose
because people are lonely and only
animals with too many tools
that can build all the junk that we sell
sometimes it makes you want to yell

things can go bad
and make you want to run away
but as we grow older
the horizon begins to fade away

Suzuki Kizashi!

Okay, this car really took me by storm when I first saw it, it looks amazing but there was a problem, 2.4L engine and 185HP only... So I wasn't too happy about that

As I was reading more about the car, I heard in Saudi they released a v6 version with a 3.6L engine! Now that's something fancy in a Japanese car, I own a Suzuki XL7, those cars surprisingly have good acceleration for v6 engines to be precise! I really wanna have a go at driving this car!  There aren't many reviews or news about someone testing the 3.6L version! But I found this much out... It's a 3.6L, V6 and...*drum roll*... 260HP, the engine was taken out of the new model of the XL7... And that engine on the 4x4 was quite fast imagine on this car! But apparently it's doesn't allow you to get the max speed out of it because of the CVT...

Not a super amazing car, but i'm sure you'll get your money worth on this

First day on the job

It was very long and extremely boring day, also cold, noisy and BORING! But I learned new things, like mounting networking devices, screwing them and connecting them.

I installed the 6 devices in the middle starting from the one with blue on the side

FIRST, let me explain what I do, I'm training as a networking engineer in Imtac(Leading IT company in Oman), I am lucky to join them at the stage where we are creating a firewall system for Bank Muscat(isn't that cool), so i'll be witnessing how to install a firewall for one of the largest corporations in Oman!

Now back to the thing, I was in the Data Center, which was HUGE, cold and noisy too... Because there are lots of hardware heat is produced, so they have to control it with a certain temperature and also avoid it from getting humid and wet. So it's very cold which leads me to the next point, since there are lots of hardware there are lots of whirring devices which makes it noisy... I was there for 4 hours and when I left the sound still haunted me. It was me and my "boss" who were there fixing it all, so while I was doing something I had fun, otherwise I was bored xD But I still learned new thing!

Sitting, waiting, wishing...

Seriously! I'm waiting for college to finish my paper work so i can enter my 3rd year(higher diploma) but they're taking for ever! KORE WA NAN DESS KA?!

But no, I really want to start soon... I don't want to miss that much!

On a different note, I got crashed into  the other day, my car is fine, just a paint job, the other dudes bumper fell off practically and his bonnet got bent. Which led me to the conclusion do NOT buy a Renault, they're rubbish and squishy and cost 1000's to fix for breaking the AC button! I didn't want insurance to take my car to fix it because it's just too needed at the moment... But on another note! The guy who crashed into me was quite a cool guy, he's a sound engineer(i'm a musician! CATCHH THE DRIFT?!) anyway we chatted and stuff he's a decent person, he turned out to be Omani, with tattoo's from head to toes :p I have 2 only but they're kinda hidden but still... He invited me to his studio! SUGOOOOOI! *strikes a heroic pose*

Who would have thought...

Don't be scared by the title, it's not that serious but it's interesting! It's a long story on how I noticed this, but the end result is the same and this includes me looking around. So I driving looking for something, then I noticed, Oman streets/roads are VERY clean... Actually Oman in general is!

So I was driving, I hardly noticed garbage, even in certain crowded areas where you would think you would expect garbage! Okay there are SOME exceptions, that's about it and it found it really cool! I'm fussed about hygiene and things looking clean.

So next time you're out and about look around... It's very cool that it's like that....
